The training workshop is designed to develop skills in Grand Bahama to produce clean biofuels/bioenergy from the abundantly available urban and agro/natural biomass in order to contribute to:
• Inclusive growth and access to modern energy for Bahamians and residents
• Creation of jobs, businesses, and industries
• Industrialization of rural areas
• Reduction of GHG emissions due to the use of charcoal, wood and fossil fuels
WHO WILL ATTEND?
This five–day training is aimed at high school students with a concentration on female students. This training will only accommodate 50 participants, on a first come first serve basis. Interested students will be invited to sign up via our website www.femstembahamas.org
TRAINING CONTENT:
• What is biodiesel? – short class
• Various uses and applications of biodiesel – short class
• Introduction to feedstocks for biodiesel production – short class + samples
• Production of biodiesel from clean cooking oil and waste cooking oil – practical
• Production of cooking oil - practical
• Varying different types of catalysts – practical
• Potential for symbiotic biogas/bio CNG and bioelectricity production – remarks
• Demonstrating use of biodiesel – practical/demo
• Care and maintenance of biodiesel micro refinery – practical
• Demonstrating the use of biodiesel – practical/demo
• Lab production and safety standards.
• The fundamentals of biodiesel business.
